The Multi-state Research Project
Modern biofuels have had a short and contentious history. Since their large-scale emergence during the beginning of the new millennium, biofuels have triggered the debate on allocation of resources for food versus fuel, were associated with controversy about subsidies and trade policies, laid the foundation of new wealth, and led to insolvency. The impact of biofuels on greenhouse gases is subject to debate, and their future will be determined by new discoveries and policies.
Every year, we address several aspects of the Bioeconomy, including biofuel, biotechnology, and green chemistry. This year, sessions will include:

The Multi-state Research Project NC-1034, “Impact Analyses and Decision Strategies for Agricultural Research,” will hold its Annual Business Meeting and Research Conference on Biotechnology, Bioenergy, and Global Food Security, March 25-26, 2011, in Berkeley, California. The NC-1034 Conference will be held in conjunction with the Berkeley Bioeconomy Conference, March 24-25, 2011.
